A fun day of shoot!
I met Sydney and her friends and boy, they are a whole lot of fun!
Sydney sure does know how to pick and choose and dress you up like a million bucks!
It was a fun time, getting to know new friends, getting deeper in the industry that
I really love and enjoy!
My goal is to shoot for any upscale edgy clothing store's catalog.
And guess what? Sydney works for Free People and is wanting to get into the
stylist for their catalog. How awesome is that?
Anyways, brought Greg with me as my assistant and it sure changed a lot of things.
So much easier and better when you have a second hand that's helping you through out the shoot.
The only lighting equipment we used for this shoot is the sun and a reflector.
Since I love the natural light I decided to keep it and use it.
It was a semi-cloudy day which is golden when it comes to outdoor photography.
Later on, we went up to the roof of their apartment and started shooting.
Sun behind the cloud, perfect!
Our model was obviously very good at what she was doing, very professional.
Things that I have learned:
Have a director with you. (someone who knows what 'feel' they want for a specific clothing)
Having a theme and a story to follow helps the shoot go smoother and easier.
It helps the model to know how to model and what the designer is expecting.
Getting to know your client is a must.
Greg and I did not just came to the set and started shooting. We interacted, talked and got to know each other. This helps a lot if your working together. So get to know everyone in the set.
In the end, you will get a hug and a thank you's from the designer!
Having fun is a must as well... They need to know that your having a great time, if not they will
start to think that your not loving your images. (show them your images and assure them that
you are loving your images)
Don't be afraid to throw out your ideas and lead the team. (As a photographer you know what to
look for) Let them know that your not afraid to lead them but also accepting any new ideas and input from anybody from the set.
Talk to the models, assure them that they are doing great. Help them with mood setting and give them direction to what you are looking for.
And always be professional when shooting.
I have so much more to say but Ill stop here.
If you have any questions please leave a comment!
